Lighting Van & Gaffer Hire Adelaide
Flexible Lighting Solutions for Adelaide Productions – We offer a lighting service that’s built for commercials, TVCs, docos and stills. The van comes fully loaded with LED fixtures, grip, stands, and everything else you’d expect on a well-run set.
You can hire just the van, but most productions bring us on with crew – whether that’s a full two-person lighting team, or just someone to help get lights up quickly and safely.
How We Work
We try to keep things simple. You can hire just the van if you’ve already got a crew in place, or bring us on to run lighting start to finish. Most productions book us with at least one crew member — usually a gaffer, or a gaffer + best boy for a more streamlined day.
If you’ve already got a gaffer or your DP wants to handle lighting, we can supply a best boy or assistant to help move faster and keep things safe. And if you need a full team, we’ve got a small core crew we work with regularly and can scale up when needed.
We cover metro Adelaide and regional shoots. Delivery or on-set meet-up, whichever suits.

What’s in the Van
This is a well-built, practical lighting van, put together for the kind of fast-moving shoots we work on every week — commercials, docos, branded content and hybrid stills/video sets. It’s probably closest to what you’d call a 1.5-ton package, though we’ve packed in more gear than most would expect for that size.
The lighting kit is built around Nanlux and Nanlite fixtures, all LED and fully wireless via CRMX and Sidus Link Pro. There’s a solid mix of bi-colour and full RGB fixtures, giving you plenty of flexibility for creative setups, practical matching, or just quick colour changes on the fly. The van carries all the standard modifiers you’d expect — softboxes, lanterns, Fresnels, spot attachments, barn doors and grids — ready to shape the light how you need it.
Grip-wise, there’s everything you’d hope for on a proper lighting job: wind-up stands, full-size combos (with and without wheels), loads of C-stands, baby combos, plus 4×4 and 6×6 frames. There’s also floppys, cutters, silks, solids, and a big range of scrim material for both location and studio work.

Got Questions?
We’ve Got You.
Yes — most of our jobs are booked as a complete lighting package with crew. That usually means the lighting van plus a gaffer, or a gaffer and best boy for a more efficient setup.
We do offer dry hire (van only), but in practice most productions bring us on to run lighting on set.
The van is fully loaded with professional LED lighting, modifiers, grip, and power distribution — everything you’d expect for a commercial or documentary shoot.
That includes COB fixtures, softboxes, fresnels, large frames (4×4 and 8x8), C-stands, combos, and a full range of diffusion and shaping tools.
Yes — we can supply power solutions for shoots where mains power isn’t available or reliable.
We’ve got a range of options including generators (2kVA through to 6.5kVA) and battery systems like EcoFlow units. These can be included depending on what the job requires.
In most cases, yes.
Between battery systems and generators, we can run a large portion of the lighting package off-grid — ideal for outdoor locations or fast-moving shoots where running cables isn’t practical.
If you’re dry hiring the van, we’ll run through everything with you before the job — usually about 20–30 minutes going over where gear is stored and how the setup works.
The van carries a lot of equipment, so this makes a big difference on the day.
It can be — but if it’s your first time, we usually recommend including at least a best boy.
It means you’ve got someone on set who knows the gear and layout, which helps the day run smoother and saves time.
Yes — if you already have lighting equipment sorted, we can provide crew only.
We regularly work as gaffer, best boy, or lighting assistant depending on what your production needs.
The van is a long wheelbase, high-roof Mercedes Sprinter.
It can be driven on a standard car licence. Just note the height - it won’t fit into most multi-level car parks.
Yes — there’s a loading ramp, which makes it much easier to move heavier gear like carts, trolleys, and large cases.
It’s especially helpful on fast-moving shoots or when loading without extra hands.
Yes — a lot of our work is on hybrid sets.
We use continuous LED lighting to keep things efficient between video and stills, and can also supply strobe lighting for stills-only shoots when needed.
Send through a quick email with your shoot details — dates, location, and what you’re working on.
We’ll give you a call to run through the setup and make sure everything’s covered.
